Resilient Democracy

Restoring Trust In Institutions

IDEAS envisions a Malaysia with a well-functioning multiparty democratic system, where both government and opposition parties compete on a genuinely level playing field. Key institutions must remain independent of partisan, political, or personal influence, ensuring fairness and stability. Civil liberties – including freedom of speech and expression, freedom of association, and the right to dissent – must be fully protected as foundational elements of a resilient  and vibrant democracy.

Competitive Economy

Advancing A Competitive Economy

IDEAS advocates for a competitive and open economy that supports greater prosperity and higher living standards for all Malaysians. Greater integration with regional and global markets through trade and investment can enhance productivity, strengthen innovation, and create more high-quality jobs. IDEAS also recognises the important role of micro, small, and medium enterprises, including women-led businesses, and supports inclusive market policies that enable them to grow and thrive.

As global economic transformation accelerates, IDEAS acknowledges the growing importance of future industries such as artificial intelligence, digital and bio-technologies, and clean energy. Ensuring Malaysia remains competitive will require forward-looking policies that attract high value-added activities and strengthen long-term economic resilience. In an increasingly uncertain global environment, IDEAS also emphasises the importance of building Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s resilience to future economic and geopolitical shocks.

Accountable Governance

Building A Transparent And Accountable Malaysia

In the area of accountable governance, IDEAS envisions a Malaysia where government decision-making is firmly grounded in clear, predictable rules rather than discretionary practices. Public information is made accessible by default, enabling citizens to make informed choices and hold the government to account.

Public institutions operate with high standards of transparency, and leadership appointments are guided by merit, ensuring integrity, competence, and public trust. We believe that Malaysia will benefit from a decentralised governance system, where decisions are made by those closest to the people and implemented by independent institutions.

Inclusive Society

Equal opportunity with strong protection and dignity for all

IDEAS advocates for an inclusive society in Malaysia where equality of opportunity serves as a key policy driver. This includes accessible, high-quality education for all, with particular attention to disadvantaged groups such as the Orang Asli, refugees, and persons with disabilities.

A comprehensive and equitable health system befitting Malaysia’s economic development is essential, ensuring that timely and high-quality treatment is available to everyone, not only the wealthy. Inclusion further entails supporting income equality and universal basic living standards across the population by advancing social protection, pensions, and financial literacy. Promoting a society that safeguards individuals from physical and emotional harm – such as bullying, violence against children and women, and discrimination – is also a critical component of this vision.
