IDEAS Webinar: Perceptions Towards Discrimination in Malaysia
In this webinar, IDEAS aim to have the panelist discuss the latest Merdeka Center survey preliminary findings on perception towards ICERD specifically and more generally on national unity in Malaysia. This may include:
- The importance of offering counter narratives to inculcate anti-discriminating practices and values;
- The racial stereotypes contributed by the gaps across varying demography; and
- Mass media content consumption that exacerbates the widespread misinformation and misconceptions regarding ICERD, human rights, and racial biases.

The second part of the webinar aims to discuss the issue of race relations & human rights in Malaysia, in conjunction with the United Nation’s ‘International Day For The Elimination of Racial Discrimination’ that falls on the 21st of March annually.
