Smaller cigarette packs not the answer to curb illicit trade

To start off, it was the tobacco industry, and not the government, that proposed to reintroduce small packs. The proposal was immediately dismissed by the minister of health, who said. “The law prohibits the sale of cigarettes in packs of less than 20 sticks”. Second, the term “kiddie packs”, which several groups have called pejorative, was not coined by the Malaysian public health community.
