Each year, the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) commemorates the birthday of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj together with celebrating the anniversary of IDEAS’ establishment. This celebration takes place on the 2nd of February 2021. The practice has been to mark the occasion through organising a fundraising event where corporate captains, government officials, civil society and friends meet over dinner while listening to inspirational speeches from Malaysia’s opinion leaders.

Due to the pandemic, we will not be hosting a big gala dinner this year, but a virtual Malaysia 2021 outlook.

Initially, we had an exciting plan to host a set of intimate dinners along with our Malaysia 2021 outlook. However, in light of the alarming rising numbers of pandemic cases, we have decided to postpone the event for our guests’ safety.

The Malaysian Outlook Conference 2021 will discuss 3 main areas. On day1(2 Feb 2020), we will discuss the outlook for economic recovery in 2021. On day 2, we will discuss the current political landscape in both Malaysia and the world. Lastly, we will speak about how COVID-19 has affected social behaviour and what can we learn from this.
